Also concerning his influence on animal rights:

Animal Rights: A History, Albert Schweither

Albert Schweitzer, born 1875 in Kaysersberg in the province of Alsace-Lorraine in the German Empire, is perhaps mostly remembered for his work in Africa as a missionary. He was however also a theologian, organist, philosopher, and physician. He also set in motion important ideas concerning our ethical treatment of animals, and was an important protagonist in the evolution of our concept of animal rights. He struggled with the paradoxes of the relationship between man and animal as no other philosopher had ever done before. His philosophy has altered attitudes, led to the passage of laws and helped the cause of animal rights in the latter part of the twentieth century.

Please take the following actions:
Please send a polite message urging the mayor of Pamplona to immediately end the Running of the Bulls and subsequent bullfights during the San Fermín festival

“Each July at the San Fermín festival in Pamplona, Spain, a spectacle of torment known as the Running of the Bulls takes place. Will you help stop it?

Young bulls who have had very little contact with humans are transported to Pamplona on a long and stressful journey. The festival organisers confine them to a small pen for several days. Then, they release them into a noisy, chaotic mob of people – mostly tourists – who chase the terrified animals through the narrow streets of the city. The bulls often crash into walls or lose their footing, sometimes breaking bones.

Later that day, they’ll be tormented to death in the bullring.

At least 48 bulls will be barbarically stabbed to death during the festival. The mayor of Pamplona needs to stop this bloodbath.

Please read more and take action. There is a template message for you to send, try and edit if you are able to do so, but if not please send the prepared message.
